Mu Points
The Mu points are used in a number of Qigong exercises.
- The Four Shen Qigong.
- Holding up a Single Hand, from the Ba Duan Jin.
- Harmonising Earth (Sp & St), from the ten Fundamental Treasures.
- The Five Elements Dance.
- Punching With Outstretched Arms, from the Taiji Shibashi.
Mu Point uses: –
- To treat their related organ.
- To treat local area issues (muscular).
- The Mu points are often referred to as acupuncture alarm points as they can indicate any problems with their corresponding meridian. This indication is often experienced as tenderness / soreness if the point is sore to touch. These (Mu) points often show signs of imbalance before the related meridian and this makes them a useful tool in diagnosis.
- Often involved in the treatment of more acute issues.
- The Mu (points) can be used to gather, or to disperse Qi.
- Mu means “gathering”, or “collecting” and become active in new / recent Qi imbalances. This is usually in cases of excess. For Chronic imbalances it is usually the Shu Points that give the alarm.
- The Mu (points) are also used on their own, or in conjunction with other points / meridians for treatment.
Some of the meridians have two Mu Points (located on meridians) while others only have one (located on Ren Mai). This diagram will help you locate and work with them.
