Description
In this Silk Exercises Qigong class
In these classes we are working with these Qigong and how they have developed over the millennia to include the Ba Duan Jin and the Ten Fundamental Treasures. Initially, we are focusing on and consolidating the Ba Duan Jin while taking one of the Qigong and showing the variants that are seen in the Silk Exercises and in the Ten Fundamental Treasures. As the classes develop, we will learn each of the four sets of the Silk Exercises as well as theTen Fundamental Treasures.
From the Ba Duan Jin
- Raise the Heels. External and Internal movement. Also looking at the Ten Fundamental Treasures version.
- Lifting the Sky. Focusing on proper structure to enable awareness of the Internal movement.
- Pull the Bow to Shoot the Eagle. Co-ordination with the breath. Using the Kua for stepping. Meridians and points being used.
- Holding up a Single Hand. Listening to the effect that this Qigong is having on Stomach and Spleen.
- The Wise Owl Looks Backward. Internalising the movement.
- Sway the Head and Shake the Tail. Working with the Kua to benefit all of your Qigong.

The Silk exercises Qigong are the forerunners of the Ba Duan Jin and of the Ten Fundamental Treasures. There are four sets that begin with exercises that are more physical in nature and gradually develop to become more Internal. These recordings are of the Silk Exercises Qigong classes. These are Intermediate level classes and you will need to be familiar with the various stances used (Wuji stance and Horse Riding stance. Even so, we begin with the basic, physical, movements before working with the Internal. If you are unsure of the basics I recommend that you do the Qigong for Beginners course.
