In these classes we are working with the Silk Exercises and how they have developed over the millennia to include the Ba Duan Jin and the Ten Fundamental Treasures.  Initially, we are focusing on and consolidating the Ba Duan Jin while taking one of the Qigong and showing the variants that are seen in the Silk Exercises and in the Ten Fundamental Treasures. As the classes develop, we will learn each of the four sets of the Silk Exercises as well as the ten Fundamental Treasures.

  • Hold the Toes – looking at the simpler Qigong from the original Silk Exercises.
  • Hold the Feet to Strengthen the Kidneys – from the Ba Duan Jin.
  • Hold the Toes to Strengthen the Kidneys – from the Ten Fundamental Treasures.
  • Punching with Intent – from the Ba Duan Jin. Working with Metal & Wood.
  • Raise the Heels – from the Ba Duan Jin. Working with the alignment and the connection between the heavens, you and earth.
  • Sway the Head and Shake the Tail – from the Ba Duan Jin. Keeping the Kau open.
  • Holding up a Single Hand – from the Ba Duan Jin. Correct focus and increasing the awareness of the effects on Stomach meridian and Spleen meridian.

The Silk exercises Qigong are the forerunners of the Ba Duan Jin and of the Ten Fundamental Treasures. There are four sets that begin with exercises that are more physical in nature and gradually develop to become more Internal. These recordings are of the Silk Exercises Qigong classes. These are Intermediate level classes and you will need to be familiar with the various stances used (Wuji stance and Horse Riding stance. Even so, we begin with the basic, physical, movements before working with the Internal. If you are unsure of the basics I recommend that you do the Qigong for Beginners course.
