Description
The Ba Duan Jin Instructor Course
Our Ba Duan Jin Instructor course has optional captions (English, French & Spanish).
Qigong is an Internal art. Therefore, for you to be truly practicing Qigong you need to work with Qi, work Internally, guide the Qi through the appropriate meridians and points, and be aware of that movement. The movement of Qi through the meridians is tangible. It is not imagined.
The vast majority of Qigong (this includes the Ba Duan Jin) currently being taught is of a physical nature with no real focus on the Internal. Instructors who are bobbing up and down while moving the arms and uttering the occasional sound bite about Qi are not teaching true Qigong. They are passing off slowed down aerobics as Qigong. This Ba Duan Jin Instructor course provides you with the necessary information to teach the set as true Qigong.
The Ba Duan Jin Instructor course includes:

- The proper stances and postures.
- Exactly where the focus needs to be in each of the Qigong.
- What meridians and points are being stimulated.
- Methods and exercises that will help you be fully aware of the Internal Aware of the Qi.
There are a number of Qigong that share their ancestry with the Ba Duan Jin. Among these are the Ten Fundamental Treasures and the Silk Exercises (four sets) and Des has practiced all of them over the past 38 years. Internally they are different and, in some cases, they work with different meridians even though the external movements are similar and the names of the exercises are similar.
These differences have occurred because they were passed down through various lineages where the Masters explored each of them and found alternative uses. Qigong is the art, the skill, of working with Qi. The external movements, along with the breath, the eyes, the stretches and the tensions, are used as tools.
As an instructor, you will make use of all of these when teaching in order to assist your students to build up this skill. But these tools are not Qigong. They help you attain Qigong, However, the two main tools are the Yi and the Shen………… That is the brain and the consciousness. The brain, focusing and guiding the Qi. The consciousness having awareness of that movement. That passive awareness is known as Listening Jing, or simply as listening. It is not an imagined movement. This is a tangible awareness of the Qi, of the meridians and of the points on the meridians.
In the Ba Duan Jin Instructor course we will be:
- Working with Wuji stance and Horse Riding stance.
- Working with the Hip Kua – opening and folding.
- Working with abdominal respiration.
- Identifying, locating and using the appropriate acupuncture points.
- Identifying, locating and using the appropriate meridians.
- Building the awareness of the meridians and their qualities.
