The Extraordinary Meridians Qigong Instructor Course

Our online Qigong Instructor course has optional captions (English, French & Spanish).

Why teach this Qigong Instructor course online?

Des made the decision to provide this Eight Extraordinary Meridians Qigong instructor course, all of the Qigong instructor courses, in an online format for a number of reasons. These include: –

  • The additional hotel costs for a course that is spread over eight weekends was more than that of the course.
  • The number overseas enquiries where the cost of air fares was huge. Not to mention the environmental impact of all that travelling.
  • The difficulty in scheduling any course on dates that suited all participants.
  • The feedback received from students (world wide), along with their accelerated progress, has convinced him that Qigong can be taught online. As long as all of the information is passed on to the students. It cannot be taught, online or live, if that experience, that knowledge and passion is not present.
  • Lastly, Des is now semi-retired and this has limited the amount of time he can allocate to live courses.

With this on-demand Qigong Instructor course course you can enrol at any time and learn at your own pace. No hassle of airports, trains, hotels, etc. At the end of this Qigong Instructor course you will have a deeper understanding and awareness of the Qi in the Extraordinary Meridians. You will be able to teach all of the exercises and assist students, through continued practice, to deepen their awareness.

The structure of this Qigong Instructor course has been built on decades of experience. This structure should be followed when teaching so that your students have all the information they need, when they need it. There should be no putting the cart before the horse. The course also includes two sessions (1 hour each) of private, one-to-one, tuition with Des prior to the online assessment.

If you have any questions about these Qigong you can use the Q&A on the course and Des will reply. Then, when you are ready, you can schedule your assessment. The course contains all of the information you need to learn, explore and teach these Qigong. It is taught by Des Lawton, a Qigong and Taiji Instructor who has been teaching these arts since 1989. Des teaches Qigong in its truest form, as an Internal skill. He guides his students through all of the subtleties and nuances that open the door to this wonderful art.

Des explains

These Qigong exercises work with the Qi that is stored in the Extraordinary Meridians (also known as the Eight Exceptional Vessels). This Qigong instructor course is made up of the four exercises. Three from the set known as the Eight Exceptional Vessels and the fourth is the Extraordinary Meridian version of Connecting Heaven and Earth.

Why work with the Extraordinary Meridians? It may sound like a strange question, by why? Because they give you access to qualities of Qi that are not discernible in Qigong that works with the 12 Classic Meridians. The Extraordinary Meridians are often likened to reservoirs that store Qi while the meridians can be likened to rivers that carry the Qi. These Qigong allow you to access these qualities and the energy fields that contain them.

The meridians and the vessels are not those thin lines that are used to represent them on diagrams. The meridians and vessels are energy fields that overlap and interact with each other and this can be experienced, tangibly, through the practice of these exercises. These exercises make use of the Master Points and the Coupled Points and these Qigong require a lot more focus than any of the 12 Classic Meridian Qigong that you may already be practicing or teaching.

According to Classical Theory, the Qi flow in the Extraordinary Meridians is described as ascending, with the exception of the Conception Vessel and the Belt Vessel. But, the directions normally described for the flow of Qi in the meridians and vessels is an oversimplification. You will understand this if you listen to these flows. The first two exercises predate the third, as far as I am aware.  My Qigong Master told me they were taught to his Master, Huang Jiu Mei. Master Huang had been taught Qigong and martial arts from childhood. He then passed his knowledge, experience and the lineage onto Master Bell.

Yi Chin, or Change the Sinews, shares its name with a number of other, externally similar, exercises.  One of these is the Five Elements version that is contained in the Ten Fundamental Treasures. The fourth exercise, Connecting Heaven and Earth comes from a different lineage but works with the same points and Vessels. With the Extraordinary Meridians version of Connecting Heaven and Earth there is a central section of the Qigong that works with the Shen.  This can have the effect of expanding our awareness of the Qi, and not just the Qi that has gelled together to create us…………..

On completion of this Qigong Instructor course you should be able to:

  • Teach students how to lead and guide the Qi.
  • Help them to experience the Qi, tangibly.
  • Teach them how to use this, tangible, feedback to increase their skill.
  • Emphasise that the, physical, movements as a means and not an end.
The Extraordinary Meridians Qigong Instructor course, taught by Des Lawton.

This Qigong Instructor course provides you with the tools and experience to teach these exercises in their truest form. It will deepen your own understanding of the Qi in the Extraordinary Meridians. You will be able to practice and teach all of the exercises. Then, through continued practice, deepen your own awareness and pass these new insights on to your students.
